The Roslyn Middle School Library was pleased to welcome Tatiana Engel, assistant professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, to the Science Café recently where she presented to multi-grade audiences. Engel has a doctorate in physics from Humboldt University in Germany, where she became interested in computational neuroscience and the ability to use mathematical tools for real-life applications. Recruited to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from Stanford University’s Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Engel is now working on a new way to analyze large-scale neural recordings throughout the brain.
