Herricks School District congratulates high school senior Liana Sohn on being recognized with the Jim Adelis Good Samaritan Scholarship Award. This recognition is a testament to Liana’s selfless acts of kindness that have a positive impact on others and inspire the community.

This scholarship award was formed to mark the 20th anniversary of “Trees for Troops”, an organization launched in 2003 that sends Christmas trees to troops serving throughout the world. “Trees for Troops” was founded by Jim Adelis, a local community leader who dedicated his life to philanthropic causes. Throughout his life Mr. Adelis spearheaded many initiatives to support members of the armed forces and was a mentor and friend to many in the Herricks community.
