Residents and village representatives met in-person for the first time since March during a Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday.

The village conducted virtual meetings over Zoom until Tuesday. The board had declared during the July meeting that meetings would resume in person starting in September, after not meeting in August.

The board approved a special-use permit for an applicant for the construction of six residential apartments above first-floor retail at 1431 Old Northern Blvd.

Continuing from the July 19 meeting, the board also discussed an applicant’s request to enlarge a restaurant property on 1401 Old Northern Blvd. The two parties agreed to continue the discussions at next month’s meeting.

However, the board is allowing the property owners to only begin work on a portion of the building that will include the kitchen, downstairs and basement.

Mayor John Durkin said the board can examine the applicant’s progress and potentially expand on their construction next month.

The village approved the Day of Courage Breast Cancer Shopping Event on Oct. 7 that will go from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. They will provide pink lighting for the Clock Tower and suspend parking meters for the event.

They also approved Roslyn High School’s Homecoming Celebration on Sept. 24, which will go from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The next board meeting will be on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. It will take place at Village Hall.
