
Two Bronx males have been charged with robbing a gas station in New Hyde Park and Manhasset, with one of them at gunpoint.
Rahquan Brooks, 18, of the Bronx and a 16-year-old boy were detained by police following the incident.
One male suspect is still not apprehended, according to police.
The three males walked into a Shell gas station on Hillside Avenue in North New Hyde Park at 5:05 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29 before attempting to gain entry behind the register, which was locked. The Shell employee called police after the three males pulled down the plexiglass barrier and fled the scene.
That same night, the three males went to the BP gas station on 1 Plandome Road in Manhasset at 5:30 a.m. where they threatened an employee with a handgun.
They allegedly hit him in the face and punched him in the stomach before leaving in a 2006 Honda Civic with an undisclosed amount of money and personal property from the victim.
Police located the vehicle, which was later found to be stolen, and apprehended Brooks and the 16-year-old, who fled on foot.
The two suspects have been charged with robbery of the first degree, robbery of the second degree, attempted robbery of the second degree, attempted burglary of the third-degree and criminal possession of stolen property of the third degree.
