On July 14, state Sen. Anna M. Kaplan (D-North Hills) hosted a teacher appreciation picnic at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington to give back to local teachers in Nassau County.

Kaplan said “our teachers have been through so much these past few years, and as they deal with new threats from radical extremists who want to jeopardize their safety and interfere with their ability to teach, they deserve a break, and they deserve our complete support. It was an honor hosting a teacher appreciation picnic this week for some rockstar local teachers and my friends at NYSUT to show my gratitude for their service. To all the teachers out there–thank you for all you do!”
