North Hempstead Town Council Member Robert Troiano Jr. and state Sen. Anna Kaplan kicked off the beginning of the new Youth Safe Play program at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury. The program is partially funded by a grant received from Kaplan.
Safe Play creates educational and enrichment programs for youth in the community. It serves as an outlet for youth recreation, teaches interpersonal skill training to resolve conflicts, and includes special guest speakers for workshops that engage youth and parents.
The program is held on Thursdays with a session designed for youth 13-17 years old from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a session for adults 18-25 years old from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
