Police arrested a homeless man Friday in Carle Place in connection with a robbery at the DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse located at 357 Old Country Road.
Michael Everett, 63, allegedly entered the DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse location and tried on a new pair of sneakers, according to police. The defendant then walked past points of purchase wearing the sneakers on his feet and exited the store, police said.
A female employee at the store confronted Everett, at which point he threatened to stab the employee, though no weapon was displayed, police said. The employee then called 911, according to police.
Police officers located the defendant near the store and placed the defendant under arrest. Everett is charged with robbery in the third degree, petit larceny and possession of burglar tools.
Everett’s arraignment is scheduled to be held at the First District Court in Hempstead Feb. 17.
