The Same Stream Choir honors former Great Neck music teacher

The GRAMMY-nominated conductor and current Conducting Professor at Westminster Choir College, Dr. James Jordan, presents a concert with his professional ensemble, The Same Stream.

On Aug. 5 at 7:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Glen Cove, the group will perform ROGER AMES: A Legacy Concert Series.

Ames was a dear friend of Jordan and the choir, in addition to being a teacher at Great Neck North High for many years. The program will consist mostly of the music recorded on The Same Stream’s most recent album, “A Time for Healing: The Music of Roger Ames,” but will feature other pieces written by composer friends of the choir, including Dan Forrest, Patrick Hawes, and Thomas LaVoy.

Tickets are available at www.thesamestreamchoir.com ($20 for Adults, $10 for Students/Seniors).

Ames recently passed away after a difficult battle with ALS, so this is the group’s chance to honor the legacy he created in the American choral music canon.

Due to the nature of his passing, 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to the ALS Association. The music on the program and the performance space makes this concert doubly special for The Same Stream.

It’s not often a group of such accomplished musicians can come together and pay homage to a composer of this caliber, in a place he held so dear.
