Cantor Rosalie Will will be the guest cantor-in-residence at an uplifting musical erev Shabbat service at Temple Beth-El on Friday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m.
The community is welcome to worship at this special event in the beautiful Rudin Garden, weather permitting, followed by an enhanced Oneg Shabbat sponsored by the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center.
“Cantor Rosalie Will brings a warm, inviting energy, making us want to join her in prayer and song,” said Rabbi Megan Brumer of Temple Beth-El. “She has taught and guided me along my journey as song leader and now rabbi, and I am so excited to have her join our community here at Temple Beth-El for Shabbat.”
The worship leader, consultant and performer travels around the country as a cantor-in-residence, inspiring communities through song. She serves as lead consultant for the Union for Reform Judaism on issues related to music and worship.
The cantor-in-residence is also founder and executive director of Sing Unto God, a nonprofit that works to elevate the practice of communal singing and meaningful worship.
“My career has been dedicated to elevating the congregational voice while maintaining communal rituals and customs, training young song leaders and cantors in areas of leadership and collaboration, and finding intersectionality among diverse communities of background and accessibility in prayer spaces,” explained Will. “With decades of experience as a worship leader, consultant, performer, visionary and leader in new worship trends, I advise communities on how to create new ways to worship that honor tradition while fully embracing the ways people gather today and hope to gather in the future.”
