The Village of Williston Park held a reorganizational meeting Monday with Mayor Paul Ehrbar swearing in various officials.

Among those who took the oath of office were  Deputy Mayor Kevin Rynne, Trustee William O’Brien, village Justice Kevin Kiley, and other officials and committee members.

After going over the appointed members, the mayor emphasized the significance of Williston Park’s Hometown Hero Program, which honors and preserves the memories of veterans and war heroes.

Theodore Fengarinas, a hometown hero of Williston Park, presented an American flag at the meeting and asked Ehrbar to accept it as a token of gratitude for the care packages sent to his son and his unit during Operation Freedom in Afghanistan.

Thev flag was flown during a combat mission in Afghanistan on a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in  September 2019.

Currently, Fengarinas’ son, Staff Sgt. Nicholas Fengarinas, is serving as a crew chief with the Army National Guard.

Kiley also announced that the village will hold its annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday at noon at Kelleher Field.
