A Brooklyn man was charged with endangering a bunny rabbit while panhandling in Mineola, police said.
On Wednesday, June 28, at 12:00 p.m. officers detained Marian Honciu, 29, for panhandling in the vicinity of Roslyn Road and East Jericho Turnpike.
After locating Honciu’s vehicle, police said they found a bunny rabbit inside while internal temperatures were over 120°F.
The vehicle also had a fraudulent license plate on its rear, police said. The bunny rabbit was handed over to the ASPCA.
Honciu is charged with the confinement of a companion animal in a vehicle: extreme temperatures, peddlers and solicitors violation, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was issued an appearance ticket in court for Tuesday, July 11, police said.
