At its Nov. 8 meeting, the Mineola Union Free School District’s Board of Education honored members of the high school’s Marching Band for its recent first place win. For the first time since 2009, Mineola High School’s Marching Band placed first in their division at the New York State Field Band Conference State Championship held at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York during the weekend of Oct. 27.

This year’s show, titled “A.I.: Artificial Intelligence” was written entirely by Mineola staff members, including Ken Kamping and Chris Toomey. The band is directed by Mr. Toomey with assistant director Zachary St. John.
