The Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in Williston Park is hosting a back-to-school food drive to benefit the Faith Mission Pantry in Mineola on Saturday, Aug. 20.

The event will be held at the funeral home on 412 Willis Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and anyone interested can also bring items ahead of time to Dalton from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.

Founded in 1969 by Mary and Edward Joeseten, Faith Mission Inc. is a nonprofit corporation composed of volunteers who serve food to those in need. It originally started as a soup kitchen which has since expanded into a hospitality center at the Lutheran Church in Mineola on Jefferson Avenue.

On Aug. 4, Dalton donated 24 backpacks filled with school supplies to Faith Mission.

Dalton is requesting anyone interested the food drive to bring non-perishable food items or $25 gift cards to LIDL. For safety, Dalton requests no glass or breakable containers.
