An 86-year-old man has died after being struck while crossing 2nd Street at Roosevelt Place in Mineola, police said Friday.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, the male pedestrian was hit by a 2012 Toyota sedan driven by a 60-year-old man. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition before being pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m. Friday morning. The driver remained at the scene.

An investigation is currently ongoing. No names of anyone involved in the accident were released.
