The often dreaded college application process is over for more than 30 Chaminade High School seniors who have been accepted to schools through a Early Decision programs.

“These accomplishments by our young men reflect the hard work they demonstrate every day at Chaminade, and the kind of commitment they’ll show at college,” Brother Thomas Cleary, Chaminade president, said in a press release. “We congratulate them and can’t wait to see where their future studies bring them.”

The students were accepted to 25 institutions in total, including several Ivy League schools, according to the release.

Among the students are Angelo Bovino, of Manhasset, who was accepted to Franklin and Marshall College, Connor Johnston, of Manhasset, who was accepted to Tulane University, and John Napolitano, of Great Neck, who was accepted to Bucknell University,

Early Decision acceptances are a binding agreement between the applicant and school. Students typically apply by November and are notified in December, before the usual January application due date and early spring decision.

Sixty-five Chaminade seniors applied through an Early Decision agreements. Some are still waiting for responses, according to the release.

Daniel Petruccio, Chaminade assistant principal of guidance, said “now more than ever, it’s a challenge to gain Early Decision acceptance” to schools.

“Thousands of applicants vie for just a handful of seats – even as they tend to their daily coursework in high school,” Petruccio said. “We’re proud that this group of exceptional men achieved what they set out to do.”
