Upcoming events at the Hillside Public Library

The Hillside Library is partnering with the Office of State Sen. John Martins to conduct a school supply drive for the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.

Needed items include backpacks, folders, spiral and marble notebooks, pens, lunch boxes, markers, glue sticks, binders, scissors, highlighters, and calculators. The library has Collection Bins where donations may be dropped off. As always, we thank you for your generosity.

Diagnosed with Dementia: What Next? – Virtual

Thursday, July 18 at 12 noon. This seminar will discuss the common forms of dementia, understanding the early signs and symptoms, how to plan for changes in your health and life, and available community resources.

In-Person: Library Plant and Garden Group – 1st Floor Modular Room

Thursday, July 18, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Calling all gardeners, of all levels and interests!  Join the Plant and Garden Club and exchange seeds, rooted cuttings, and plants with fellow gardeners of all skills and interests.  Let’s discuss composting, annuals and perennials, indoor and outdoor gardens, container gardens, terrariums (make your own!), and your problems and successes!  No registration necessary.

The Library Plant and Garden Club meets every 3rd Thursday, April through September.

Adventures in the Jungle- Storytelling with Lu Ann Adams with Crafting Fun! – Children’s Room

Tuesday, July 16 at 5 p.m. All Ages- Family Fun!  Multi-talented storyteller, Lu Ann Adams is returning for another visit sharing Jungle Animal Tales from the rainforests of Africa, South America, & Southeast Asia. Lots of audience participation! A Jungle craft will be available at the end of storytelling program.

Time for Kids: Jump Frog Jump! – All Purpose Room                                                  Friday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. Ages: 12 months- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we explore in this family fun preschool program. Music, movement storytelling and make a Frog craft!

Dangers of the Jungle with Johnda – All Purpose Room                                              Friday, July 19 at 4 p.m. Ages: 7-12 years. Get ready for a wild expedition…uncover a variety of dangers that lurk deep in the jungle and make your own quicksand to take home.
