
Nassau County police arrested a Queens man in Roslyn Heights on Saturday night who was found in possession of a machete and multiple bags of marijuana.
Wayne Anderson, 45, was stopped by police on the corner of Warner Avenue and Expressway Plaza at 10:15 p.m.
He was pulled over after he failed to signal and officers noticed a damaged windshield and defective brake light, according to Newsday. Â
Police gave this account:
Officers approached the vehicle and spotted a brown wooden handle with black tape protruding from under the driver’s seat. Anderson explained that it was a machete which he used to protect himself.
A further search of his car revealed several bags and jars of marijuana and a black-handled knife.
Anderson, of Jamaica, Queens, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance along with numerous traffic violations.
He was released on an appearance ticket.
