The 2nd graders at Daly and Sousa Elementary Schools and took field trips to the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society’s “Then & Now” program in May.

The children learned what everyday life was like when the Sands family lived at the Sands-Willets House: How they cooked on the hearth and in the beehive oven, how they washed clothes with a washboard and a mangler, and much, much more.

The children made butter from heavy cream, which they enjoyed on crackers with their brown bag lunch on the front porch.
