Presidents’ Day project at Hampton Street

In honor of Presidents’ Day, first-graders at Hampton Street School in the Mineola Union Free School District learned about the nation’s leaders who shaped our country. Mrs. Drinkwater’s class researched Abraham Lincoln to learn about his life and contributions to the U.S. through an interactive lesson.

Students drew their own portraits of Lincoln as a supplemental activity. They also built log cabins, like the one he was born in, using common materials such as paper and milk cartons.
