Since Earth Day occurred during their spring recess, students at Hampton Street School in the Mineola Union Free School District celebrated the holiday on April 29.
Kindergarten through second grade students engaged in activities such as decorating a reusable canvas bag, planting seeds and learning about bird watching.
Jungle Bob, Volunteers for Wildlife and the TR Sanctuary also hosted hands-on presentations for students to learn about wild animals.
