Sewanhaka students’ art on display in ‘Advanced Visions’ exhibit

Sewanhaka Central High School District had 10 students selected to have their artwork on display in the 18th annual Advanced Visions: High School Artists of Excellence exhibit, at LIU Post’s S.A.L Gallery at the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library in Brookville. The exhibition showcased artwork from 50 high school students enrolled in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs from 34 high schools across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The exhibiting student-artists included Cara Hooke and Mekayla (Kay) Metellus from Elmont Memorial High School; Samantha Ambrose and Jared Bernado from Floral Park Memorial High School; Grace Leder and Jin Peng Wu from H. Frank Carey High School; Trisha George and Gungeet Hanjra from New Hyde Park Memorial; and Makayla Simpson and Diane Torres from Sewanhaka High School.

Additionally, Hooke and Simpson were each awarded a prestigious Juror’s Award at the exhibit.
