The Roslyn Middle School Spotlight Drama Club hosted four performances of Annie for the Roslyn community from March 7-10, 2024.
The musical Annie is based on a comic from 1924, written by Harold Gray. It tells the story of a cheerful and optimistic 11-year-old orphan girl (played by Helen Zhang) who stays with a billionaire (played by Asher Berkowitz) for two weeks.
The show was directed by RMS teacher Julianna DeAngelis, with music direction by RMS teacher Brian Villegas.
“Annie is a timeless tale about the power of positivity in the face of life’s challenges, and though this story takes place in 1933, it continues to ring true in 2024,” said Ms. DeAngelis. “It has been a great pleasure to watch this cast and crew experience the power of this show’s message through their hard work, dedication, and creativity.”
