Megha Gopal, a senior at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, has been selected as a semifinalist in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Every year, more than 1.5 million high school students across the nation enter this academic competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and approximately 16,000 of them are identified as semifinalists. Those who achieve this level of distinction represent the highest-scoring entrants in each state and have the opportunity to advance to finalist status, with the prospect of winning scholarship awards.
