H. Frank Carey High School celebrated P.S. I Love You Day for the third consecutive year on Feb 12. This year’s theme was “Together We Will Rise.”
P.S. I Love You Day, held on the second Friday of February each year, was created by former West Islip resident Brooke DiPalma to spread awareness of suicide and depression. Those participating are encouraged to wear purple to recognize the day, as well as foster kindness and a welcoming environment.
This year, students and staff at Carey joined in on the day and made adjustments to accommodate students working remotely. Everyone dressed in purple and participated in period-by-period lessons on bullying prevention, acceptance, kindness, overcoming obstacles, and spreading love and joy through this difficult time. A committee of teachers, staff members and students created the lessons.
