The district congratulates Mineola High School senior Alexis Panebianco on being selected for five major choral ensembles during this school year, an incredible achievement that deserves recognition.

This year’s honors for Alexis include Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA) All-County Mixed Chorus, New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Mixed Chorus, American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Eastern Division Honor Choir, ACDA National Honor Choir and NAfME (National Association for Music Education) All-Eastern Honor Choir.

Alexis has received high praise from her music teachers not only for her outstanding vocal abilities, but for her commitment to literacy and practice. “Ensembles like All-State and NAfME All-Eastern require evidence of music literacy,” said Dr. Meg Messina, Choir Director at Mineola High School. “Alexis scored perfectly on that assessment. This kind of perfect score is not something a singer can earn by cramming or getting lucky – they must have honed a set of literacy skills and systems to sing vocal music on-sight. These are skills as well as her ability to practice efficiently will serve her very well in the future.”
