On Oct. 30, eleventh grade learners in Mineola High School’s inaugural Introduction to Healthcare program were joined by administrators, teachers and Northwell Health representatives for the official launch of the MedVoyage program, an innovative educational initiative designed to provide high school students with a transformative exploration of the dynamic world of healthcare.
This collaborative program focuses on career exploration and hands-on experience, giving students the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and skills vital for success in the healthcare industry and to make informed decisions about their future.
In addition to their daily Introduction to Healthcare class instruction held at the district’s Synergy building, the 26 students will make eleven trips to Northwell Health locations, including EMS Operations, North Shore University Hospital, Northwell Core Lab and others. Each visit will include a tour of the operation, as well as presentations from the staff and the opportunity for students to ask questions.
The program concludes with the students turning their experiences into multimedia presentations which will be presented to Northwell Health representatives and management.
