Under gray skies, the Manhasset schools community rallied for its annual homecoming parade and game. This year’s festivities were marked not only by the traditional Manhasset Secondary School Spirit Week leading up to the event but also by the homecoming game.
Manhasset High School secured a victory over Bellmore-Merrick’s Wellington C. Mepham High School, defeating them with a score of 20-13.
Manhasset senior Austyn Park set the stage with a performance of the National Anthem, setting the tone for the game. Spectators, wrapped in their school colors, cheered on the home team, all while eating food and buying Manhasset merchandise from the Booster Club.
Before the game was a parade, which kicked off on Colonial Parkway and involved participants from various parts of the Manhasset community, including administrators, board members, faculty, staff, and students, marched down Plandome Road. Alongside them, members of each class had transformed their cars into vibrant displays of school spirit, adorned with balloons, banners, and streamers.
Adding a rhythmic tempo to the procession, the high school band and spirited varsity cheerleaders filled the air with music and cheers. The parade culminated at Manhasset Secondary School, where the community gathered not just for camaraderie but also for a showdown on the football field.
