Sixteen students from Manhasset Secondary School’s AP Capstone program were honored at the latest Manhasset Public Schools Board of Education meeting. The AP Capstone program spans two years and comprises two courses: AP Seminar and AP Research, both of which are at the college level and emphasize student-led research projects based on their areas of interest.

Each student was presented with a certificate during the meeting by the Board and Superintendent of Schools, Gaurav Passi.

During the board meeting, Margaret Ronai, coordinator of social studies and family and consumer sciences, introduced Manhasset Secondary School’s AP Seminar teacher Jeremy Berman and AP Research teacher Elliott Wong. The teachers discussed how rigorous the courses are before congratulating the students who earned their AP Capstone Diploma and AP Seminar and Research Certificate.

Ten students were celebrated for earning the AP Capstone Diploma. These students included Marissa Cerrone, Siri Craven, Mirei Kuzukyan, Joella Linder, Sophia Motroni, Eileen Shum, Anna Stougiannou, Veronica Tsalikis, William Tsay, and Andrea Vases. The AP Capstone Diploma is awarded to those who successfully complete both the AP Seminar and AP Research courses with scores of 3 or higher, as well as attaining scores of 3 or higher in at least four other AP exams across various disciplines.

Six students were acknowledged for receiving the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. These students were Madeleine Chun, Claire LaBenne, Max Majewski, Senan Marcus, Lucas Rieppi, and Georgia Sacha. To earn the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, students must achieve scores of 3 or higher in both the AP Seminar and AP Research courses.
