Mrs. Kaplan’s third-grade students brought their favorite book characters to life by embellishing pumpkins to mimic these characters. Over the last two weeks, students collaborated with their partners to thoughtfully plan and craft their pumpkin creations. The lesson fostered their ability to apply insights from their current reading unit— centered on character traits—and prompted them to choose especially robust traits for describing their pumpkin book characters.
“The students excelled throughout the entire process, showing remarkable dedication in planning, designing, and carrying out each phase,” said Mrs. Kaplan. “They thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and took great pride in their pumpkins!”
