Junior Iron Chef Competition for Sewanhaka students

Family and Consumer Sciences students from Sewanhaka High School participated in the seventh annual Junior Iron Chef Competition sponsored by Cornell’s Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County on March 9. The competition took place at the Lake Grove Whole Foods Store.

This year’s middle school teams were challenged to prepare a breakfast recipe which incorporated the use of locally grown ingredients. The goal was to create an awareness and appreciation of the sustainable food system and to get schools committed to providing quality locally grown foods for their students.
