John Lewis Childs School sends out Valentines

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is pictured with some fifth grade students from Mrs. Saunders’ class.

Students at John Lewis Childs School spent some time in January creating Valentine’s Day cards for veterans.

As part of Nassau County’s Valentines for Veterans program, students in all grade-levels crafted valentines to be donated to veterans in hospitals and nursing homes. On Jan. 30, fifth graders in Christina Saunders class were able to meet Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, who came to pick up the cards from the school.

Additionally, students in Mrs. DiMeglio’s third-grade class and Mrs. Cooper’s fourth-grade class made beautiful cards for World War II veteran Major Bill White, who resides in California. The 104-year-old asked for Valentine’s Day cards this year to add to his scrapbooking collection.
