The Herricks Mock Trial Team won their first round of the Mock Trial competition on Feb. 10 at the Nassau Supreme Courthouse. “Lawyers” Brandon Marafino, Eshita Kushi, and Moniza Mujtaba along with their witnesses Olivia Berg, Prableen Kaur and Dino Vadaich successfully prosecuted the case United States v. Phoenix Jones against the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County. The team is coached by high school teacher Michelle Kaplan and is further advised by Herricks community member Ira Slavit. This year the team was also fortunate to get the help of community member Ajay Chheda. The district wishes participants the best in their next round on Feb. 24!
