Herricks High School student receives multiple musical honors

Herricks High School senior Meredith Daly has been honored with three prestigious recognitions for her outstanding musical accomplishments and will be showcasing her talent at two upcoming concerts.

Meredith has been named first place winner of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) of New York Concerto and Vocal Competition. She will be performing with MYO’s Nassau Principal Orchestra at Adelphi University Performing Arts Center on Nov. 5.

She has also been selected to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State 2023 Symphony Orchestra taking place Nov. 30 through Dec. 3 in Rochester, NY.

Finally, Meredith has recently been recognized by the Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) as one of 20 recipients of the Scholar-Artist Merit Award, placing her among the top student musicians on Long Island.

Meredith is a member of the Herricks High School Honors Wind Ensemble and serves as co-vice president of the Herricks High School Tri-M Music Honor Society. Her primary instrument is flute, but she is also proficient at piccolo.

The district applauds Meredith not only for her musical achievements, but for her exceptional scholastic aptitude, inspired leadership and positive attitude as part of the Herricks High School community.
