Harbor Hill Elementary School students participated in a school-wide activity centered around Todd Parr’s classic book, “It’s Okay to be Different.”

Classes listened to or watched a read-aloud, then created “It’s okay to be ___” cards, which they filled in with unique answers.

The cards were then turned into a beautiful display outside the cafeteria to reinforce the sentiment that it’s okay for students to be who they want to be. The activity was part of a process for earning a “No Place for Hate” distinction, inspiring classmates to connect in engaging ways, become effective allies and develop a deep respect for differences.
