The fifth-grade student council at Harbor Hill Elementary School hosted a book drive to coincide with the school’s Spring Book Fair during the last week of March. In just five days, they collected a total of 1,579 books for all ages!
“From decorating boxes, to creating and posting fliers, to making multiple announcements on the loudspeaker, to sorting the books—the members of the council did an excellent job promoting the book drive and managing such a large amount of donations in just one week,” said Liba Schwartz, fifth-grade teacher and student council advisor. “We are proudly contributing all the books to the Freeport based Book Fairies in time for their April Book Fair, which supports schools and organizations in under-resourced areas across Long Island and New York City.”
