Munsey Park and Shelter Rock elementary schools in Manhasset recently welcomed guests from the community for a special “Guess who’s coming to read” event.
Representatives from various sectors of the community stopped by the schools to read a book or two to a class and to share their love of reading. Some even dressed up for the occasion, including Brian Nolan, assistant principal at Munsey Park elementary, who wore his volunteer firefighter suit.
Manhasset Board of Education President Pat Aitken entertained youngsters with the story of why “Dragons Love Tacos” by Adam Rubin, and Manhasset School District Superintendent Vincent Butera shared with children one of his favorites, “They All Saw a Cat,” by Brendan Wenzel.
Robert Geczik, retired Shelter Rock elementary school principal, and Jean Kendall, former Munsey Park elementary school principal and current Manhasset assistant superintendent for human resources, also returned to their old stomping grounds to read to the students.
