In a historic first-ever achievement, the South High School Varsity Boys Cross Country Rebels team has won the Suffolk Coaches Cross Country Invitational. The annual race occuring at Sunken Meadow State Park, took place on Oct. 13, “which is known for its varied and challenging terrain including the legendary ‘Cardiac Hill'” the district wrote.
The Rebels’ won with a lead of 118 points over their rivals. The senior duo of Junseo Deschenes and Mario Jimenez-Euan displayed their prowess by finishing in the Top 10.
Sophomores Andy Wu and Joshua Chang, along with senior Jared Korn, achieved top-25 status, with junior David Feng, senior Nolan Kyi, and sophomore Andrew Lee also securing positions within the Top 50.
The cross county team completed the regular season with an undefeated record of 13-0 and are possibly en route to winning the Division 2B and Conference II Championships this year. The Class County Championship will be held on Oct. 28 at Bethpage State Park.
