Christopher Toomey, band director at Mineola High School, was awarded a $500 Funding Your Ideas Teacher Grant through Jovia Financial Credit Union.

The grant was used to purchase advanced mouthpieces, ligatures, and reeds for members of the eighth-grade band. This is Mr. Toomey’s fourth year receiving this grant to benefit the students of Mineola. Eighth-grade clarinet, saxophone, and tuba players received their new equipment on Feb. 13.
