Garden City Park School Principal Amy Faccio has been promoted to the role of director of personnel for the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District, effective July 1.

Since 2016, Faccio has served as the principal of Garden City Park School. Throughout her time there, she assisted in implementing reading and writing workshops into the classrooms; instituted a full-time integrated co-teaching model with additional grade levels every year; and developed parent orientations on a variety of topics, including literacy, mathematics and social-emotional growth of kindergartners. Furthermore, she co-facilitated the Shared Decision-Making Team to find ways to improve the school environment and plan engaging experiences for the students. Faccio is a member of multiple districtwide committees, including Health and Safety, Future Ready Library and TAC. She was also a member of the Sewanhaka Central High School District Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Before coming to New Hyde Park-Garden City Park, Faccio served as the principal of Chestnut Street School in the West Hempstead Union Free School District. She started her career in education as an elementary classroom teacher in 1997.

Faccio earned her bachelor of arts in Psychology, bachelor of arts in Elementary Education, master of science in Special Education and master of science in Literacy from Hofstra University. She also earned a professional diploma in School Administration and Supervision from St. John’s University.

  1. As a teacher at the school, thank god she is gone. Each day she continued to embarrass each of us in front of others. It’s better she can be behind a desk. Dealing with teachers was not her forte. We now have peace each day.
