On Jan. 12, 41 students from North Middle School competed in the school’s annual spelling bee. Contestants from grades 6–8 earned a spot in the school-wide event by winning their respective classroom-level spelling bee in December.
This year’s contest was held through Zoom Webinar and live-streamed throughout the building so students could watch from their classrooms and remote locations in real-time. The spelling bee winner is eighth-grader Joy Wei, who will advance to the next stage of the competition and test her skills against other middle school spelling bee winners from across Long Island.
