It was a cloudy day on June 23 but that didn’t dampen spirits as the North Shore High School seniors donned their caps and gowns for the 2023 Commencement Ceremony.
Parents, families and administrators happily gathered in the gymnasium at North Shore High School to watch the ceremony led by Principal Eric Contreras.
Speakers included Superintendent Christopher Zublionis, Valedictorian Ava Bartoli, Salutatorian Ruben Shonik and North Shore Board of Education President David Ludmar.
Congratulations to all the North Shore High School graduates and their families who attended the 2023 Commencement Ceremony.
To begin the ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Senior Class Co-Presidents Romolo Fabiili and Michael Granelli followed by the “Star Spangled Banner” sung by Gregory Saridakis accompanied by members of the North Shore High School orchestra conducted by Jason Domingo.
Principal Eric Contreras congratulated his seniors and praised them on this wonderful milestone. He said that they were a special class who expressed how much friendships matter.
In honor of Nicholas Pedone, who would have graduated with the class, they asked if a seat could be reserved and decorated for him. Everyone then stood and applauded Mr. and Mrs. Pedone who were in the audience.
“Here at North Shore you have also been individual beautiful shining stars in your own individual journeys,” Contreras said. “And at the same time, you have all been one beautiful constellation of stars in the midnight sky. Just like actual constellations, you have shone individually, and you have also collectively made each other brighter.”
In addition, both Superintendent Zublionis and Board of Education President Ludmar spoke to the graduating seniors.
During the “Presentation of Class” each senior was called to the podium to receive their diplomas. Upon completion, Contreras stated that they had fulfilled all the New York State High School requirements to graduate.
To a loud round of applause by all of those in the audience, the graduates joyously tossed their hats in the air!
Congratulations Class of 2023!
At the conclusion of the 2023 Commencement Ceremony, the North Shore Alma Mater was led by Aidan Tandy and Liam Tandy.
“In the spirit of Nick, fight hard, smile big, and take care of each other,” Contreras said. “I love you I love you, and I am proud of you. You are my stars, our stars, and your parent’s stars. Come back and visit.”
Principal Contreras then wished all his seniors the best of luck in the future!
Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
