The Carle Place School District conducted its annual New Teacher Academy from Aug. 13 to 14 with a continued series of after-school meetings scheduled throughout the academic year.

New teachers in Carle Place School District participated in the annual New Teacher Academy on Aug. 13 to 14, receiving essential training and support to kickstart their teaching
careers.

This program was designed to welcome and prepare the district’s new educators, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support necessary for a successful start to their teaching careers at Carle Place.

The two-day event featured a variety of sessions, including technical training on district credentials, insights into the special education program, and an introduction to Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. The academy also emphasized student engagement strategies, the Leader in Me program, and the district’s observation process.

Participants engaged with Carle Place administrators, listened to a student-run musical performance and learned from experienced educators. The program culminated in a mentor lunch, fostering relationships that will support the new teachers throughout the year.

As the New Teacher Academy continues with follow-up meetings scheduled for October, December, February and March, the district said in a press release that they remain committed to nurturing its new educators and ensuring their success in the classroom.
