October has been a busy month at Denton Avenue School. Students have enjoyed a variety of events, projects and lessons that presented engaging opportunities for learning, unity and creativity.

Kindergartners, first- and second-graders visited a firehouse, where they learned the importance of fire safety and practiced their new skills in a simulated fire experience. Each student left with his or her very own fire helmet.

The Denton Pumpkin Patch was the scene of Halloween during the week of Oct. 15, when each child received a pumpkin to bring home to decorate for the upcoming annual contest.

More seasonal celebrations were featured at the Oct. 12 Fall Festival, coordinated by the Denton PTA. Students enjoyed many treats and activities and viewed creative displays of pumpkins.

Spirt Week kicked off on Oct. 22, when students wore their favorite team jerseys to school. Mismatch day and crazy hat day showcased the students’ creativity.

On the morning of Oct. 24, students were met with a melodic greeting. Parents and staff
members welcomed them with musical instruments. A pep rally will bring everyone together in school pride.
