On June 20, Mineola learners, teachers, administrators, and board of education members gathered to cut a ceremonial ribbon and celebrate the grand opening of Café at Synergy, a student-run coffeehouse located in the district’s Synergy building.
From the initial business plan to branding, design, and training, learners from Mineola High School’s Synergy program have been involved with every aspect of this new venture. During the upcoming school year, the café will be open to students and faculty on weekdays and staffed exclusively by Synergy learners.
As part of the school’s Business Pathway, learners will gain valuable management and customer service skills while having fun, making money, and providing a service to their school community.
This innovative program is a shining example of the Mineola Board of Education’s commitment to providing real learning opportunities that make our students college—and career-ready.
