Readers Write: Thanks to Veronica Lurvey for a job well done

I’m writing to thank Veronica Lurvey for the outstanding job she has done representing District 4 in the Town of North Hempstead for the past almost five years.

My husband and I live on Allenwood Roa. in the unincorporated area abutting the Village of Great Neck. There has been no issue that we brought to Veronica’s attention that has gone unresolved; from a question about what to do about the 3 diseased pear trees that were planted by the town in front of our house about 10 years ago; to an urgent concern about how to help a very distressed neighbor, in her late 50s with a handicapping condition, to access an early COVID shot when they were still only locally available for scheduling to people over 60.

Both cases received Veronica’s quick attention- she directed me on how to use the Town’s 311 number to report the trees- inspectors from the town came, the trees were removed and the stumps ground down.

The distressed neighbor almost immediately received a call from Veronica’s assistant, who helped to schedule our neighbor’s first COVID shot for that very same day. I have heard from friends and neighbors that they received the same quick response and careful attention to concerns that they brought to Veronica’s attention.

I can only hope that we have the same high level of representation now that our unincorporated area has been redistricted and is joining District 5. I wish Veronica the very best as she moves on to serve the Town’s residents in other ways.
