It is really important that the residents of Great Neck Plaza vote in the Village election on March 15. I urge you to support the current team, especially Pamela Marksheid.
I have lived in the Plaza for over 21 years and like you have seen many changes. But I have also seen how devoted Pam Marksheid is to bringing back a healthy downtown. She is involved in hiring a downtown recruiter that will attract high-end stores, was instrumental in keeping our library branch in the shopping center and with the current board has reached out to many supermarkets to try to convince them to come to our village.
There are countless other projects the Board of Trustees are working on, too numerous to list.
I also know how many meetings Pam attends with other officials, whether they are from the county, town or other elected officials on the peninsula. We cannot live in the past and ignore the effect that online shopping and big box stores have had on our mom-and-pop businesses.
To help our current business owners, the Village has embarked on numerous programs to help those current places stay in business as well as recruit new types of stores and restaurants to come to the Plaza.
Our residents have a responsibility as well to frequent our stores and take advantage of what they have to offer. Pam has served our village for many years and does not need to learn on the job as the other candidates will have to do.
We cannot allow our village to have inexperienced people in office, without knowing how to keep the improvements coming. Please support Pam Marksheid.
Remember to vote on March 15.
