Readers Write: Santos has financial incentives to remain in office

George Santos simply cannot resign, because he has no conceivable idea of what he would do with his life after having done so.

As long as he remains a member of the House, he is entitled to his salary, health care insurance, and possibly (I don’t know the regulations here) a housing allowance, none of which he would be able to replace after leaving.

It’s my guess that the only thing that will get him out of the House of Representatives is an arrest warrant for a felony charge that will result in his leaving in handcuffs.
