I am the president of a co-op in Great Neck Plaza. Since Mayor Ted Rosen became mayor in 2020, I have seen him work hard to deliver on his commitments. One of his commitments was to complete the repaving of the Village’s streets. Under Ted’s leadership, the Village completed the repaving of nine Village streets this past year, including the street on which my co-op is located.
Ted was hands on, not just a remote leader. I remember seeing him on the street before the repaving was scheduled to begin. He was there with members of the Village staff and I believe a representative of the engineering firm supervising the repaving project, examining specific matters concerning the repaving project. Subsequently, Ted was on the scene of the repaving of my street and nearby streets in the early morning and at various times throughout the repaving.
Ted has discussed with me that he is determined to recruit new businesses to our Village’s downtown. He is proud that since Jan. 1, 2021, approximately 35 new businesses have become established in our Village, many of them occupying previously vacant stores. Ted also discussed with me that the Plaza will be hiring a downtown advocate to actively recruit new merchants and restaurants into our downtown.
One of Ted’s priorities as mayor is public safety. He has established a good working relationship with the commanding officers and officers of the Nassau County Police Department’s Sixth Precinct and has indicated that the police have been very responsive when he has requested that they address certain specific issues. Recently the Village provided public safety seminars in which police officers spoke to residents about improving personal safety. The program was very informative.
I will vote for the re-election of Ted Rosen as Mayor and Pamela Marksheid and Michael DeLuccia as Trustees. I ask my fellow Great Neck Plaza residents to join me in supporting them.
