I read with great dismay about the antisemitic acts that were conducted by several Schreiber students.
I have some suggestions as to what I believe the school district should do…
These students must be taken to the Holocaust Museum in Glen Cove. Few young people including many young Jewish children, do not have great knowledge of this horrific event.
Secondly, I would suggest that these students attend an after-school program where they should be shown actual newsreels of the concentration camps, the dead bodies being bulldozed into mass graves, the ovens and gas chambers that were used, etc. They should also see footage of the Nuremberg trials.
Education is one of the best ways to combat ignorance, racism, antisemitism and the like.
Our schools have the responsibility of delivering this education.
