Readers Write: Mayor Rosen actively supports Plaza merchants

I am a resident of Great Neck Plaza since 1990.  I have also been the owner and manager of a chocolate retail store, which has been in business in Great Neck Plaza for more than 30 years.  Recently, we decided to move to a larger location across the street in the Village, where we will expand the business.

Great Neck Plaza is a village which supports its businesses and as a result, the Village has been and continues to be a great place for a retailer to do business.  Our customers come from the homes on the Great Neck peninsula, the offices that line Great Neck Road, Cuttermill Road and our LIRR station as well as all over Long Island and Queens.

I was one of the merchants who attended the workshops provided by the Village of Great Neck Plaza for Village merchants at no cost to the merchants.  The workshops were taught by instructors from Hofstra University and covered important subjects needed for retail success in 2022, including social media marketing, email marketing, Google My Business, financial management and improving the overall customer experience.  The workshops were excellent.

I learned a great deal of valuable information that has been and will be very beneficial to me in running a retail business.  The program providing the workshops was started by Mayor Rosen with the support of Deputy Mayor Pamela Marksheid, Trustee Michael DeLuccia and the other members of the Village Board.

This is a very creative program intended to help Plaza merchants continue to be successful in operating their businesses and remain in business.  It is an example of one way Mayor Rosen and the trustees are coming up with practical solutions to help the Village’s merchants.

I have also worked with Mayor Rosen and Deputy Mayor Marksheid with a group of local business people in attempting to informally recruit new businesses and restaurants to our Village.

The foregoing programs show that Mayor Rosen and the members of the Village board have been and continue to be very committed and dedicated to finding and implementing practical solutions to improve business in our downtown rather than merely talk in non-specific generalities about helping Village businesses.

I will vote to re-elect Great Neck Plaza Ted Rosen as mayor of our Village and Deputy Mayor Pamela Marksheid and Trustee Michael DeLuccia as Trustees and I ask other Village residents to do the same.
